European Solidarity Centre, opened in 2014, is located just outside the entrance to the historic Gdansk Shipyard. It is here that the trade union "Solidarnosc" was founded. This place witnessed turning points in the history of Gdansk which later played a major role in bringing an end to the communist Europe. You can go up to the roof-top terrace to get the best views of the surrounding shipyards. You can also see the house of Lech Walesa – the legendary leader of the Solidarity trade union.
